Job Description

This position will be responsible for developing electrical designs for commercial and industrial facilities as well as evaluating bid specifications and drawings, ensuring that we know everything required to successfully bid and win the project. It is essential for the individual to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. Critical for success is the ability to perform in a fast paced environment while managing tight deadlines.

The essential duties and responsibilities of the position include, but not limited to:

  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
  • Review bid requirements for projects that range from approximately $50K to $10M, ensuring all aspects of the project are documented and accounted for.
  • Prepare takeoffs and work with Procurement department to secure vendor pricing.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, general contractors, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Develop job schedules and forecasts.
  • Follow-up with subcontractors to ensure that bids are received, and work with the Project Management teams to follow-up on bids and budgets to close the business.
  • Properly turn over bid documents and sub buyout information to Project Manager in a timely manner.  Review drawings with Project Management team and highlight areas of concern.
  • Design electrical power distribution, lighting, and general power systems for commercial and industrial applications for voltages up to 600V that meet current electrical codes.
  • Design low voltage fire alarm, data, security, CCTV, and nurse call systems that meet current electrical codes.
  • Preparation of design documents using AutoCAD, Revit, Excel, Visual, Word, and Bluebeam.
  • Performing lighting calculations and controls design that meet current energy codes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications include prior design experience. Commercial/industrial construction experience preferred. Applicants must be able to handle multiple projects at one time, possess the ability to successfully negotiate terms and conditions, manage tight deadlines, and have proficiency in computer software skills specifically with design, estimating, and job cost tracking software.
