Job Description

This position will be accountable for reviewing bid requirements and following through with estimating a variety of general heavy civil construction projects which are valued greater than $10M and are up to $1B.  Travel may be required throughout the United States to jobsite and pre-bid meetings but work is anticipated to be primarily in the northeastern United States particularly the New York Metropolitan region.

The essential duties and responsibilities of the position include, but not limited to:

  • Review bid documents for projects that range from approximately $10M to $1B, ensuring all aspects of the project are documented and accounted for.
  • Prepare takeoffs, develop pricing for work to be performed and work with Procurement department to secure vendor pricing.
  • Develop and sustain working relationships with clients and/or bidding partners through direct communication.
  • Properly turn over bid documents and sub buyout information in a timely manner. 
  • Review drawings with Estimating and/or Project Management team and highlight areas of concern.
  • Other duties as assigned.

A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field and prior field and estimating experience within the heavy civil construction industry is preferred. Applicants must be able to handle multiple projects at one time, possess the ability to successfully understand the implications of project terms and conditions, manage tight deadlines, demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, possess ability to collaborate with various levels of management and demonstrate proficiency in computer software skills specifically with HCSS estimating software. Knowledge and fluency with P6, Microsoft Project, Viewpoint and SharePoint are highly desirable.
