Job Description

This position is responsible for researching regulations and obtaining permits necessary to legally move heavy/oversized construction equipment to various job locations.

The Essential duties and responsibilities of the position include:

  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers, following all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.

  • Confer with management to establish delivery schedules.

  • Compute correct weight/axle ratios.

  • Arrange for proper permits and completes documentation for overweight loads for all divisions. Ensure handoffs to logistics.

  • Prepare, review and maintain reports and records.

  • Maintain internal renewal records, apply for equipment registrations, and disburse registrations in a timely manner.

  • Analyze records and ensure vehicles have proper registration attached (including IFTA)

  • Training of DOT Permit Coordinator (s) and others as requested.

  • Identify route and potential hazards for delivery of oversized equipment.

  • Other duties assigned.

Qualified candidates must have an Associate’s degree, 5+ year’s related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. The ability to read a tape measure and map and have computer proficiency. Ideal candidate would have knowledge of over width/overweight permit applications, knowledge of construction equipment and must possess a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record as determined by DOT.  Other qualifications include the ability to work independently, attention to detail, timely decision making, and problem solving skills.
